BOWLING
PARK CLUB. BOOTH CUP AND SHIELD. The first round in the Booth Cup and Shield competitions will be played on Saturday between fours representing the Park and Martinborough clubs. All the games will take place at Martinborough, and cars will leave the Park gates at 1.15 p.m. The following have been selected to represent the Park Club:—Booth Cup; Wallace, Trevorrow, Kilgour, Brownie (s); Jenkins, Brown, Thompson, Shearer (s). Shield: Andrews, O’Donnell, Leigh, H. Smith (s). Any player unable to attend is requested to notify the selector, Mr A. E. Kilgour, ’phone 1728, as early as possible. After an interesting contest played last evening for the McEwen Ferns, the holders (Gibson and Osborn, s) defeated the challengers (Thompson and Kilgour, s).
MASTERTON CLUB. MEETING OF COMMITTEE. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton Bowling Club’s committee an invitation was received from the Wairarapa Centre to take part in the annual visit to Manawatu on December 7. Mention was made of the generous donation of copper water piping for the greens by the club's patron. Mr F. H. Dunderdale. It was reported that a trophy had been given by Mr J. V. Gordon for a club selection pairs competition to embrace first, second and third year players. A committee of three afternoon players was set up to formulate rules and conditions of play for the McCullough Trophy. This trophy was donated by the sons of the late Mr W. McCullough and takes the form of a separate trophy for each of the next five years. It was decided that it be a recommendation to the match committee that all games played til 1.30 p.m. on Saturdays by club members should count as a win or loss, for the club fours. The games are to include Booth Cup and Shield. Colts games against the Park Club. and the championship fours.
