“The desirability of having efficiently organised trade groups has been emphasised through the Government recognising groups as a means of obtaining immediate military requirements." stated the annua’ report, of the Canterbury Manufacturers’ Association. "The Factory Controller, the Defence Purchase Division and the Price Investigation Tribunal have all recognised a number of trade groups and valuable work has been done through the co-operation thus attained with the various departments. In every case where the interests of an industry have been affected a trade group meeting has been held to consider the position. The clothing and boot and'shoe industries 'nave particularly strong groups, and have been very active in connection with military contracts.”
