If more money and greater accommodation were available, St Anne's Home, in Papanui Road, Christchurch, which is ahe only one of its kind in the Dominion, could be still more useful to the province, states “Doing Likewise." a booklet published under the auspices of the General Synod of the Anglican Church in New Zealand. St Anne's Home is engaged i.i preventive work among girls who arc temperamentally unfit to remaii; at home under parental control. “They are often in poor health when they come to the home," states the booklet, “and it is usually some time before they are able to take up full duties and be of use to others. The work is difficult, and much time, patience and care have to be spent in training and discipline before the girls arc fit to take up their lives in the world again. It is found best to keep them for a period of two years or even three, but many, are discharged before they should be."
