GOLF CLUB SEASON OFFICIALLY CLOSED. ("Times-Age” Special.) The weather was fine for the official closing for the season of the local Golf Club. There was a fair attendance. Mrs Trevor Hume presented the following trophies won during the season: — Senior championship: M. Hume. Junior championship: M. Waiwera. Ladies’ championship: Mrs G. Sutherland. Rose Bowl: Mrs Herangi. Doughty Memorial Cup: M. Hume. Sinclair Thompson Cup: J. Riwai. Campbell Cup: M. Hume. Wm. Hume Cup: J. Riwai.

PIRINOA HALL PROPOSED RENOVATION. A meeting was held in the hall to consider the question of raising funds for renovating work on the local hall. There were present members of the local patriotic committee and Women’s Institute. Messrs Gillies and D. Warren, trustees, were also present. Mr S. Thomas occupied the chair. After some discussion it was decided that all present form themselves into a committee to raise the necessary finance to carry out the suggested improvements. Mr D. Didsbury was elected secretary and treasurer. It was decided to hold a euchre party and dance at an early date. Several persons expressed their willingness to donate articles for the produce -stall. It was also resolved that a local orchestra be engaged to supply the music for the dance.

SHEARING OPERATIONS HAMPERED BY WEATHER. Shearing operations are being considerably hampered by the wet weather.
