PATRIOTIC FUNDS
THE MILLION POUND APPEAL. The provincial patriotic councils throughout the Dominion are now solely responsible for the collecting of all money required for every patriotic purpose. The appeal for £1,000,000 is being launched everywhere in New Zealand this month, and the local quota towards that amount is £B.OOO. An office has been opened and staffed in Perry Steet, at a place made very familiar during a previous appeal and someone will be in attendance almost continuously. A small but strong committee has been set up to go into ways and means of raising the district quota and already plans are well in hand for the local launching. The money,to be raised is to be used among other things for: — Comforts for New Zealand troops overseas. , Relief in the United Kingdom. Rehabilitation of our Fighting Forces and their dependants. No matter which of these objects they prefer to support, people are asked to give to this fund, as all future requirements will be drawn from the sums collected and held by the eleven provincial patriotic councils in NewZealand. All are asked to give freely and to remember that the local office is in Perry Street. “Is she pretty?” “Well, she always gets a seat in a bus.”
