The use of the term “rehabilitation” to describe the post-war care of iers, which is one of the objects of the present £1,000,000 patriotic appeal, was criticised at a meeting of the Canterbury Provincial Patriotic Council, members saying that it prejudiced the appeal in the view of some members of the public. The Mayor (Mr R. M. Macfarlane, M.P.) explained again that the term “rehabilitation” was used for want of something better to define the temporary care of soldiers pending their establishment in civil life, which was recognised as a Government duty. The Mayor of Geraldine (Mr D. C. McKechnie) suggested the use of the 1 term “post-war relief,” and it was deIcided to forward the suggestion to the National Patriotic Fund Board.
