BOWLING HOLDERS RETAIN GOLD BARS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Greytown Club will probably enter four rinks in the tournaments to be held on the King’s Birthday. Playing for the Gold Bari, the holders, Messrs Higgison and Carter, defeated Brunton and Dennes, 22/20. METHODIST CHURCH SEVENTY-FIFTH JUBILEE. The Greytown Methodist' Church celebrated its 75th jubilee on Sunday, when both services were attended by large congregations. The preacher was the Rev R. B. Gosnell. This evening a banquet is to be held in the Odd Fellows’ Hall in connection with the jubilee. TWENTY-FIRST BIRTHDAY MR O. HOOD HONOURED. A number of friends were the guests of Mr and Mrs G. Hood at an ‘'eight o’clock tea” given in honour of the coming-of-age of their third son, Owen. Mr Phil. Wallis, in proposing the health of Mr Owen Hood, congratulated him upon attaining his majority and wished him many years of life to enjoy the freedom symbolised by the presentation of a key from his father. Mr Hood suitably replied, thanking his many friends for their presents and good wishes. Flood in Main Street. Greytown experienced very heavy rain yesterday afternoon and for a time the gutters and water-tables were unable to cope with the water. The Main Street was flooded near Keltie’s corner. Personal Items. Mr J. W. Herod, of Battersea, is at present undergoing treatment in the Greytown Hospital. Mr Herod was dehorning cattle when he injured one of his fingers. Privates B. Kiernan and N. Harris, of the Hawke’s Bay Regiment, now in camp at Dannevirke, were home for the weekend. Vital Statistics. The vital statistics for Greytown for October were: Births 3, marriages 1, deaths 3. Rainfall. During October 3.79 inches of rain were registered in Greytown, there being 10 wet days. In the same month last year 1.91 inches were recorded.
