The associated overseas shipping lines in the New Zealand trade have been advised from London that all existing consolidated scehdule rates of freight on both refrigerated and general cargo from New Zealand to the United Kingdom are subject to an addition of fifteen per cent. The surcharge is to take effect with vessels commencing to load at any port after midnight on November 6, but for vessels which have already commenced loading at any port before that time and date, the present rates will apply to the total loadings of such vessels at such ports. The increased rates will apply at their subsequent loading ports. Australian and homeward rates are similarly increased. It was previously reported that the surcharge would be operative from December 1.
