ATTEMPTED MURDER
NAZI PLANE MACHINE-GUNS' . BUSY STREET. WOMEN ESCAPE INJURY. LONDON, November 3. A raider swooping down at tremendous speed last night machine-gunned a busy thoroughfare in the London area where shoppers were making lastminute purchases. It fired two short bursts. Women dashed to the cover of shop doorways but streamed out into the streets again after the plane’s departure. No one was injured. A German plane earlier flew over a London suburb at 500 feet. People rushed to the shelters but no bombs were dropped. A bomb demolished several houses in the outskirts of the city. Only one man was slightly injured.
