INTENSIFIED ACTION
BELIEVED TO BE IMMINENT PLANS FOR THE WINTERCAMPAIGN. LAND, AIR AND NAVAL CO-OPERATION. (By Telegragh—Press Association —Copyright) LONDON, November 2. British forces are now in Greece and troops have, landed on Greek territory. References in messages from 'Athens to British aid were confirmed when the First Lord of the Admiralty, Mr Alexander, in a broadcast address, announced the landing of troops, said that the Navy was there also and that Bri-
tain was giving air support. An Athens message says that British warships have arrived at Crete and that the preparation of air and naval bases is being expedited. Major-General Gambier Parry, of the British Headquarters General Staff in the Near East, has arrived in Greece and conferred with the Greek High Command for planning the winter campaign. Greek naval bases are already occupied by the Allies and intensified aerial and naval action against the Dodecanese Islands is believed to be imminent.
Reuter reported from Athens last night that British naval officers had arrived there and at a number of the Greek islands and were working at full speed preparing to co-operate with the Greeks. It had not been possible to prepare joint plans before because of the neutrality of Greece.
It is reported without confirmation from Greek sources that British bombers, accompanied by a few Greek planes, and operating from a Greek base, bombed Italian and Albanian ports. An Italian communique claims that their aerial formations attacked troops landing at Crete.
