HOME GUARD PARADE LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age” Special.) Last night about eighty attended the parade of the Home Guard. Instructions in various phases of defence was given by two officers of the permanent force. Bowling. Despite unfavourable weather on Labour Day, the local Bowling Club held a very successful pairs tournament. Mr S. Boyd was the successful skip, winning all five games, while Mr L. G. Sievers annexed the lead's trophy. The proceeds were handed over to the local Patriotic Society to expend on soldiers’ parcels. Scouts and Guides. With a keen desire to do their part in the patriotic appeals, the Girl Guides and Boy Scouts will shortly produce a pageant of Empire, the proceeds of which are to be given to the Heart-to-Heart Appeal, whicli is shortly to be made. This, with other items by the two companies should make an attractive and spectacular entertainment.
