SECOND DAY AT WELLINGTON
The Ring Wins Watkins Handicap ' SILVER STREAK SUCCESSFUL AT GORE CHIEF EVENT AT MAKARAKA TO GAY MIMIC (BY “THE GRAFTER”) At the Wellington Racing Club's meeting on Saturday the Watkins Handicap went to The Ring, which was successful in the chief event at Masterton, while the Wellington Guineas was accounted for by Sir Beau, last season’s leading two-year-old. The Masterton horse Par Avion justified the confidence placed in him by the public, winning the Karitane handicap. At Gore the chief event was won by Silver Streak and the Flying Handicap by Strip. At the Poverty Bay Turf Club’s meeting at Makaraka on Saturday the Centennial Handicap resulted in'a win for Gay Mimic.
