CARTERTON

CARTER’S BUSH VISIT OF INSPECTION. (“Times-Age” Special.), The Carter Home Committee, consisting of the Mayor, Mr D. L. Taverner, Councillors E. McKenzie, J. Udy, C. J. De Lacey and the Rev W. F. Stent, motored out to Carter’s Bush yesterday for the purpose of inspecting the serious erosion the - Ruamahanga River was making in an adjacent property and which must eventually cause damage to the southern extremity of the property. .'The last heavy flood in the river swept away large willows from the bank of the stream and carried them out into the river-bed, thereby causing water to get in behind the bank and wash away the soil. After a thorough examination of the position it was agreed that nothing could be done at present in the matter, other than to keep a watchful eye on the course of the river. The committee then inspected the Carter Home and found everything in good order. OBITUARY MR PRESTON EDWARDS.
