WAR COUNCIL PLAN
PRAISED BY MELBOURNE PAPER WORKABLE PARLIAMENT SECURED. EXAMPLE SET BY LABOUR PARTY. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) (Received This Day, 9.20 a.m.) MELBOURNE, This Day. The “Argus,” in an editorial, declares: “Throughout Australia gratification will be felt that the Federal political parties have been able to resolve their differences concerning the basis of co-operation by the formation of an advisory war council. They have secured a workable Parliament in which mutually acceptable principles may be worked harmoniously. It is due to the Federal Labour Party to say that it certainly has set an example in candour, clarity, dignity, and unselfishness. Unable to ’ participate in a national government, for reasons which appear good and sufficient, it has' offered the services of individual members to give administrative assistance in implementing the war effort. Thus the session which lies ahead of the new Parliament should be a fruitful one.”
