NO RENT DUE
WHILE WAITING FOR BOMB TO EXPLODE. LONDON MAGISTRATE'S RULING. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) LONDON, October 22. A magistrate in the Tower Bridge Police Court ruled that tenants evacuated from a property because of the presence of an unexploded time bomb are relieved from liability to pay rent during their absence. London's wrecked buildings are yielding much salvage for the war effort. All bricks, timber and slates that can be used are going to local authorities for A.R.P. work. Iron and steel are going to the Ministry of Supply and broken tiles and slates are being used for road making. A use has not yet been found for the mountains of broken glass. In view of the possibility of the originals being destroyed by enemy action, the Society of Genealogists has undertaken to compile, a complete photographic record of every birth, baptism, marriage and death entry in England between 1538 and 1812.
