OTHER PEOPLE’S IDEAS
ABATTOIR CHARGES (To the Editor). Sir, —I notice, in reading a report of the Borough Council meeting, that some reference was made to my firm’s reason for transferring our killing to Wellington. The statement made by Concillor Low was quite corect, but a remark made by the Mayor, to the effect that the charges were not an increase of 30 per cent, was definitely wrong. For example, my July killing fees were £203 odd. Doing the same amount of killing for October, my charges would have been about £267. an increase of over 30 per cent. That is the sole reason we had to go to Wellington.—Yours, etc.,
J. A. BETTS Masterton, October 24.
