OBITUARY
MRS ELSIE EVELYN GREATBATCH. The death occurred last evening, at the residence of her daughter, Lansdowne, of Mrs Elsie Evelyn Greatbatch, formerly a well-known resident of Tinui, where she was postmistress for 22 years. The late Mrs Greatbatch had been in poor health far some time. She was born at Carterton, a daughter of the late Mr and Mrs Dennis Sullivan, pioneer settlers of that district. She resided in Carterton until her marriage to Mr Samuel Greatbatch, who was a stationmaster and resided in various parts of the North and South Islands. Mr Greatbatch died at Dunedin 25 years ago today. As postmistress at Tinui for 21 years, Mrs Greatbatch was known throughout the East Coast district. She retired from that position about five years ago. Mrs Greatbatch is survived by two daughters. Mrs R. Allen, 5 King Edward Street. Lansdowne, and Mrs J. limes, Whakataki. besides two brotheis and four sisters. The funeral will take place tomorrow, leaving the Chapel of Hyde s Funeral Service, following a service at 2 p.m. for the Masterton Cemetery.
