IHURAUA
WOMEN’S DIVISION PATRIOTIC ACTIVITIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) Under the auspices of the W.D.F.U. a meeting was held at the residence of Mrs C. R. Judd, Ihuraua when Mrs E. Dagg presided over a fair attendance. The time was spent in sorting and sewing garments, etc. One parcel was made ready for the Red Cross Society and another for the Lady Galway Guild. A “bring and buy” stall provided substantial help towards the funds with which to buy new wool. A vote of thanks was passed to Mrs H. Theed for a donation, to the ladies and to the school children who had knitted wool into pullovers, sox, caps, etc. Afternoon tea was served and a vote of thanks to the hostess brought a very pleasant gathering to a close. Makarewa Golf Club. At a recent meeting of the Makarewa Golf Club it was decided that the whole of the proceeds from the annual dance be donated to the Provincial Council’s patriotic appeal. The club will pay the expenses of the orchestra and the ladies will supply supper. Mr D. Bennett has donated a ram for a competition to be decided on the day that the golf club closes the season. The proceeds from this will go to the patriotic appeal.
