NEGLIGENT DRIVING

DAMAGED BY FIRE

FACTORY AT LOWER HUTT. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The premises of Rokfire Electrical Batteries, Ltd.. Randwick Road, Lower Hutt, was damaged by fire last night The call was received at the Lower Hutt fire station at 9.49 p.m., and when the two brigades which answered the call arrived the fire was well under way. The building was of wood and iron construction, but fortunately the flames did not break through the roof. Had this happened, with the stiff northerly which was blowing at the time the flying sparks would have been dangerous. The fire is believed to have started in an oil heater used in drying processes. Production will be slowed up for a time, but not halted. Most of the material destroyed is believed to be replaceable within New Zealand.
