ARMED ACTION
AGAINST INDOCHINA ADVOCATED BY SIAMESE PRESS. POPULAR DEMONSTRATIONS. (By Telegraph—Press Association —Copyright) BANGKOK, October 16. The vernacular Press advocates armed action against Indo-China. Describing the Vichy refusal to consider the Thai demands a challenge to Thai, “Rash Dra” said the people’s patience was nearly exhausted. If nothing could be achieved peacefully, then an immediate declaration of war was necessary. Six thousand tricycle rickshawmen participated in a demonstration on Tuesday. Five hundred students held a torchlight parade earlier. MOVE BY DECOUX VISIT TO CAMBODIAN KING. SUPPORT AGAINST THAILAND. (Received This Day, 11.25 a.m.) HANOI, October 16. The Vichy Government has ordered Indo-China to resist any Thailand attempt to violate the Cambodia-Laos boundaries. The French defences have been tightened, with attention again centring on Thailand’s demands. Admiral Dccoux’s forthcoming visit to the Cambodian King Sisowath Monivonc is interpreted as an assurance that the French will support the Cambodians against Thailand.
