WOMEN’S INSTITUTE

KOPUARANGA MEETING COMPETITION RESULTS. (“Times-Age” Special.) At the monthly meeting of the Kopuaranga Women’s Institute, Mrs C. P. Jarrett, presided over a fair attendance of members. A motion expressing sympathy for Mrs R. A. Miller in her bereavement, was carried in silence. The president welcomed Miss Wolters, delegate to the Dominion Council, who gave an interesting account of the Dominion Council meeting in Wellington. On the motion of Mrs Jarrett, Miss Wolters was accorded a vote of thanks. The Roll Call “A Limerick,” was answered by all present, and caused much amusement. Afternoon tea was served by the hostesses, Mrs Jennings and Miss N. Rossiter. Mrs Wright reported that twentynine garments had been handed in to the Lady Galway Guild since the last meeting. The results of the monthly competitions which were judged by Miss Wolters, were as follow:—Boys’ shirt (refugee): Mrs and Miss Wright (equal), 1; Mrs Jarrett. 2; Mrs W. J. Cottle, 3. Best bloom: Mrs Jennings. 1; Mrs Reside. 2: Mrs Wright, 3. Two-egg sponge: Miss N. Rossiter, 1; Mrs Jennings, 2: Mrs W. J. Cottle and Miss M. Wright (equal), 3. The cooking competition for next month will be pikelets. The singing of the National Anthem brought the meeting to a close.
