EUCHRE PARTY & DANCE AN ENJOYABLE GATHERING. ("Times-Age” Special.) There was a large attendance at the euchre party and dance held by the bachelors and spinsters of the district in the Memorial Hall on Saturday evening. The euchre prizes were won by Mrs Taylor (ladies) and B. McKenzie (men). The ham was won by Mrs Burling and two other prizes were won by Miss O'Brien. The produce stall, which was again largely patronised, was in charge of Miss Scrimegour. The M.C. was Mr N. Hume, and the music was by Te Maari’s Orchestra. The takings, approximately £3O, will be donated to the London Distress Appeal. Personal Items. Mr Matakatea has returned from a visit to Levin. Mrs McKinley, Martinborough, was the guest of Mrs McKenzie at the weekend. Mr W. Henson, who was a patient in the Wellington Hospital, has returned home. Mr and Mrs T. Bevan, Otaki, were visitors here at the weekend. Mr Redpath, who was here for a few days, has returned to Wellington. Mrs Murphy, who has taken up residence in Martinborough, is visiting her mother, Mrs Te Maari. Miss Han cox, Martinborough, is the guest of Mrs Tilson, Te Kopi. Miss D. Winterburn has returned to Otaki owing to the illness of her mother. Private A. Grigg, Trentham, was a visitor to Pirinoa over the weekend. Mrs A. Holmes-Warren is visiting relatives in Christchurch. Local residents were much relieved when the report came through that Aircraftsman Colin Didsbury was safe after the aeroplane in which he was an occupant, had been forced down recently in North Canterbury. Mr Didsbury is well known here and is a member of a pioneer family of the district. Mrs A. Te Maari Junr., who has been visiting relatives in Tologa Bay, returns today. Mr V/. Enoka, who was an out patient at the Greytown Hospital, has returned home. The Rev. H. Taepa, Maori Missioner, conducted a Church of England service in the Meeting House at Kohunui on Sunday. There was a large attendance. Lake Outlet Closed. The outlet of the lake is closed. Golf Season. The local golf club will close the season on Saturday.
