DAIRY BULLS
NATIONAL SALE. SATISFACTORY PRICER. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) PALMERSTON N.. October 11. The twelfth spring national dairy bull sale, held on the Palmerston North Showgrounds, was considered the most successful held in recent years. Top price came from the Jersey section, Middlewood Andy (born July, 1939) bringing 75gns. This fine animal was offered by the Misses Kilgour (Kiwitea) and bought by J. Thompson (Takapau). The best sale in the Milking Shorthorns was Kareru Apollo, sold for W. J. Slack (Bunnythorpe) to Hamilton Brothers (Te Rore) for 50gns. Top price for Friesians was secured by K. G. Fairbrother (Dalefield) for Dalefield Netherland Rajah, which was sold to Mrs E. M. Hammond (Waverley) for 28gns. Wakefields Canny Scot, sold for A. Hill and Son (Kopane) to R. G. Scott (Whakarongo) for 27gns, headed the Ayrshires. Ku Ku Cavalier, a, Jersey adjudged grand champion at the show held before the sale, was sold for A. R. Wylie (Pahiatua) to W. D. Thomson (Dan'nevirke) for 30gns.
In Jerseys, E. Steel (Greytown) purchased Duke of Pahiatua from A. Horn and Sons (Ohau) for 55gns and J. E. Jewett (Eketahuna) bought Takapau Meteor for 26gns. In Milking Shorthorns, E. Dickson (Pongaroa) bought Willowdale Monarch for 16gns, F. Kent (Eketahuna) Kereru George for Signs, and F. Wrigley (Masterton) Kereru Clinker from W. J. Slack at 18gns. K. G. Fairbrother (Dalefield) sold Dalefield Netherland Prince, a Friesian bull, to W. H. and S. J. Mawson (Takapa) for 21gns and M. J. Parker (Dalefield) disposed of Koromiko Dutch King to the Public Trustee.
