SALE AT FEILDING GOOD PRICES FOR CATTLE. FAT SHEEP VALUES INCREASE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) FEILDING, October 10. Cattle were well in the majority at the Feilding stock sale today, but the supply did not prove beyond the demand, prices being very good. Some good ewes were yarded in the fat sheep section and for top quality lines prices went up. Values for noggets and wethers were firm at laiC rates. Extra prime wethers made 43s 4d„ prime, 375. Id., unfinished, 255. 4d. to 295. 7d.; prime hoggets, 30s. 4d. to 335. 10d„ medium weights, 255. 7d. to 295. 7d„ light. 21s. 10d„ to 245. Id.: extra prime ewes, 31s. 4d. to 375. 7d. prime. 275. lOd. to 29s Id., light, 20s. to 25s 9d. Only a few pens of store sheep were offered, prices remaining steady at a high level. Best ewe hoggets sold for 345. 7d., smaller, 27s Id., to 305.; very good wether hoggets, 255. 9d.; second grade, 225. 3d. to 235.; small two-tooth ewes, 275. 9d; small two-tooth wethers, 17s. 9d; ewes and lambs, all counted, good, 21s 3d., others, 15s. 9d„ to 18s. In the store cattle section the inquiry for station stock was keen throughout, practically all the offerings selling under the hammer. Yearling dairy heifers were very high priced. Best three-year Hereford steers brought £9 to £9 Is., Shorthorns, £9 15s. to £lO 25., smaller, £8 to £8 3s; good three-year A.A. steers, £lO 9s. to £lO 10s.; best two-year A.A. steers, £8 to £8 75., second quality, £6 10s. to £7 55.. backward, £5 7s. to £6; twoyear Hereford steers, £6 10s. to £6 165.; two-year A.A. heifers, best, £6 4s. to £6 175., others, £4 14s. to £5 Is.; empty A.A. heifers, £4 145.; forward empty A.A. cows, £6 2s. 6d. to £7 Is.; yearling A.A. steers, best, £4 17s. 6d. to £5 2s. 6d., small, £2 17s. to £3 155.; Jersey steers, £4 165.; works cows, heavy, £4 11s. to £5 65., others. £2 10s. to £3 195.; yearling Jersey heifers, best, £6 18s. to £7 13s. 6d., others, £5 10s. to £6 12s. 6d.
Good dairy cows in milk went up considerably in price, with best springing dairy heifers also still in good demand. Best springing heifers made £ll 12s. 6d. to £ 13 155., second grade £9 15s. to £ll 17s. 6d„ backward, £5 10s. to £9; springing cows, £9 to £ll 10s.; good cows in milk, £lO to £l2 12s. 6d., others, to £9 10s. Beef met a keen demand with prices still high. Some good lines of female beef cattle were on offer, together with some light prime oxen. Best cows sold for £lO 2s. 6d. to £l2 2s. 6d, light, £7 7s 6d. to £8 12s 6d; ex dairy cows £5 10s. to £7 55.; prime heifers, £ll 17s. 6d., light prime, £7 17s. 6d. to £9 12s. 6d.; medium prime oxen, £l2 7s. 6d. to £l2 12s. 6d., light, £lO 12s. 6d. to £ll 7s. 6d.; runners, £6 2s. 6d. to £7 12s. 6d.
Late rates were maintained for pigs, of which there was a fair supply. Weaners brought 15s. to 195.; slips, 255. to 31s. 6d.; stores, £1 16s. to £2; porkers. £2 95.; sows, £2 9s.
