CHURCH SERVICES

At the Masterton Baptist Fellowship service on Sunday morning, in the Y.M.C.A., the speaker will be Mr L. G. Rimmer, of Wellington. Tomorrow is Young People’s Day in, the Presbyterian Church of New Zealand. Special services will be held in the Lansdowne Church. Sunday school) children will take a prominent part in the service at 11 a.m., and a special Youth Service will be held at 7 p.m. The Rev. David McNeur will conduct both services. The Presbyterian Church has 722 Sunday schools, with 4040 teachers, 32,861 scholars and 679 junior and 349 senior Bible classes, with 6157 men and 7434 women members. Services will be held also at Mauriceville West at 1.30 p.m., and at Eketahuna at 3 p.m. The services at the Salvation Army barracks. Masterton, tomorrow will be conducted by Major and Mrs Mahaffie. At the morning service Major Mahaffie will speak on “Heart Purity,” and in the evening on “The World’s Hopeless Condition.” Young people’s anniversary services will be conducted by Colonel Dry and Major Armstrong on Sunday, October 20. The Holy Communion will be celebrated at St. Matthew’s Church tomorrow at 8 a.m., and at Kuripuni at 9 a.m. Archdeacon Rich will preach both in the morning and evening at St. Matthew’s Church. The evening service at Kuripuni will be conducted by the Rev. H. Taepa, and that at Upper Plain by the Rev. V. W. Joblin. At the Masterton Methodist Church tomorrow the services will be conducted by the Rev. H. S. Kings. The subject at the morning service will be “Not Far From the Kingdom,” and in the evening. “The Way of the Cross." Mr C. H. Skusc, a recent student of Trinity Theological College, will conduct the afternoon service at Rangitumau. The Kuripuni Methodist Church will commemorate its diamond jubilee tomorrow, and the services will take the form of Sunday school anniversary services. A choir under the leadership of Mr W. Davies will render special music. The visiting preachers for the day will be the Rev. G. Knowles Smith, an expresident of the Methodist Conference, who will conduct the morning service. The afternoon service will be conducted by the Masterton minister, Rev. H. S. Kings, and Rev. J. Ainsley-Daglish I will be the preacher at the evening service. The morning and evening services at Knox Church, and the afternoon service at Kaituna will be conducted by Mr Ivan Muir. At Tinui and Langdale a group of Bible Class members will officiate.
