Hail of Bombs
ON HAMBURG AND NAVAL PORTS British bombers attacked targets in Germany on Thursday night, oil tanks at various places coming in for main attention. A great attack was made on targets in Hamburg. A German news agency says this raid was the most violent ever made. The British planes let loose a hail of bombs and'caused indescribable damage. Fires were started at all the targets attacked in Germany. Warships at Wilhelmshaven were bombed and shipping- yards at Kiel were heavily attacked. NAZI RAIDS ON BRITAIN Last night German planes were reported, over the London and Liverpool areas. All daylight attacks on- Thursday were broken up. No heavy bombing attacks were reported and there were not many casualties. At Canterbury windows in the cathedral were broken. The stained glass windows had previously been removed. German planes were reported on the Dorset coast in the morning and again in the afternoon. There were no casualties or damage in this area. Five Geman planes were shot down and five British fighters crashed. All the British pilots are safe, but one is wounded.
