masterton county council ACTIVITIES. ENGINEERS’ PROGRESS REPORT. At the monthly meeting of the Masterton County Council held in Masterton yesterday afternoon the following report was submitted by the- consulting engineers, Messrs Seaton, Sladden and Pavitt, on work carried out during September:— No. 65 Masterton Stronvar Main Highway—Taueru River bridge at 4.55 miles: Steady progress has been maintained during the past month. The contractors have completed the concreting of the girders and the first two sections of the deck slab have been concreted. No. 441 Te Ore Ore-Bide-ford Main Highway.—Bridge at 4.25 miles.—The metalling of the approaches has been completed and subject to maintenance this contract is now completed. No. 516 Blairlogie-Langdale Main Highway—Mangapokia Stream Bridge at Blairlogie Homestead: The earthwork and metalling of the approaches have been completed and the bridge is in use by traffic. Further shaping and grading of the approaches is being carried out and the old bridge is being dismantled. Kiriwhakapapa Road Bridge No. 1: Subject to maintenance this contract has now been completed. Te Ore Ore Settlement Road. —Wangaehu Stream bridge.—All the piles in the piers and abutments have been driven and capped. The rolled steel joists for the centre span and the timber stringers for the end spans are in place. It is expected that the bridge will be completed in about three weeks time.
