ORCHESTRAL CONCERT
SEASON'S SECOND PERFORMANCE The final concert for the 1940 season of the Masterton Orchestral Society has been fixed for the evening of Wednesday, October 16. The society adheres to its policy of including in its programme music to suit every taste, and the' forthcoming concert will be no exception. Indeed, the concert promises to be of exceptional interest. The orchestra is playing particularly well and the items selected, many by request, should make a wide appeal. The major works are the Overture “Orpheus in the Underworld,” and a splendid selection from “The Damnation of Faust" by Berlioz. There are many lighter items which have been asked for. and the inclusion of Mr R. G. Gilbert as solo singer and a quartette of male voices will make up a programme which, should not be missed. Admission prices are 3s, 2s and Is. and seats may be booked free of charge at the Arts and Crafts. The Society's membership fee is only 10s 6d per annum, which carries two tickets for each concert with prior booking rights. Application for membership may be made to the Arts and Crafts, members, or to the Hon Secretary. Mr E. Bell. 61 Perry Street (phone 1678).
