KOPUARANGA

TABLE TENNIS SEASON BROUGHT TO A CLOSE. (“Times-Age" Special.) The Kopuaranga Table Tennis Club brought the season to a close on Saturday evening, visitors beiiig present from Mauriceville and Wellington. The winners of the Yankee Tournament were Mrs Myers and E. Christensen, with Miss W. Westhead and H. Myers runners-up. During the evening a presentation was made to Mr E. Wehikore in appreciation of his having supplied the dance music. A happy gathering was brought to a close by the singing of, “Auld Lang Syne” and the National Anthem. TENNIS CLUB ANNUAL MEETING. At the Kopuaranga Tennis Club's annual meeting held recently the following officers were elected for the ensuing years:—Patron, Mr G. H. Clarke, president, Mr C. C. Jackson; vicepresidents. Messrs J. F. D. Hewitt. E. J. Wright, S. J. Clarke, R. Kenny; secretary and treasurer. Mr C. P. Jarrett, committee, the president, secretary, Misses M. Wright, ■N. Rossiter, W. Clarke, Mrs Reside, Messrs I. Jackson. A. Arlidge, E. Wehikore; club captain, Miss M. Wright. It was decided to officially open the courts on Saturday, October 12, to celebrate the 96th birthday of the patron. Mr G. H. Clarke. Visitors from other clubs will be welcome to take part in the Yankee Tournament. Players are requested to be at the courts at 12.30 p.m. Anyone wishing to take part in the tournament and unable to be there by 12.30 p.m. is asked to communicate with the secretary (telephone 506 D). An energetic working bee of 16 spent the weekend cleaning and tidying up the courts and pavilion. Given a fine day on Saturday the gathering should be a most successful one. Should the day be wet Mr G. H. Clarke s birthday celebrations will take place in the Hall. Patriotic Dance. The patriotic dance which was to have been held .on October 8 has been postponed till October 15. Intending patrons are asked to watch the ‘ TimesAge” for particulars.
