THREE DEATHS REPORTED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON, This Day. The following air casualties were reported yesterday: — Sergeant D. E. Hughes, killed in flying accident. Mother: Mrs J. Hughes, Riverlea, Taranaki. Flying Officer Willis Stewart Brown, killed in aircraft accident. Father: Mr D. C. Brown, 170 Hastings Street, Waltham, Christchurch. Pilot Officer Michael Joseph Berry, killed in aircraft accident. Father: Mr Thomas Berry, 340 St Asaph Street, Christchurch. AIRMAN MISSING. FORMER WANGANUI RESIDENT, (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WANGANUI, October 7. Sergeant Colin McKenzie Laird, R.N.Z.A.F., who has been reported missing on air operations, is an old boy of Wanganui Technical College. On leaving school he joined the clerical staff of the Railways Department and was stationed at the Hutt Workshops, Wellington. He joined the Air Force shortly after the outbreak of war and trained as a gunner at Ohakea, going overseas this year. Sergeant Laird was interested in the Castlecliff Sea Scouts and is a keen swimmer. His brothers and sisters are Messrs Howard Laird (Brunswick), Douglas Laird (N.Z.E.F.. Egypt), Athol Laird (Kakatahi), and George Laird (Wellington); Miss B. Laird (Wellington), Mrs V. Britton (Wellington), and Mrs D. C. Tregurlha (Wellington).
