LITTLE BRITONS
ARRIVALS FROM EDINBURGH. WELCOME PARTY AT CENTRAL SCHOOL. Robert Stewart and Cnristina (Ina) Stewart are two little Britons from Edinburgh who have just arrived in Masterton. They are now enrolled at Central School and so pleased are their new classmates at having them in their midst that they decided to give them a party of welcome. On Monday afternoon, therefore, in the Assembly Hall, an excellent repast, provided by the parents of the children concerned, was set out and Robert and Ina with their classmates of Rooms 5 and 10 had a wonderful time. When full justice had been done to all the good things provided, Dawn Couper proposed the health of the guests the toast being vociferously received and drunk with musical honours. A programme of elocutionary, musical and dancing items, given by various pupils, was followed by parlour games, and concluded with “Auld Lang Syne.” Robert and Ina have already made several, very close friends and are settling down nicely. The ’ function was arranged by the School Junior Red Cross Council consisting of representatives from the different class rooms, the president being Dawn Couper and the secretary Marie Lindsey.
