FEATHERSTON
SOLDIERS’ DANCE SUCCESSFUL GATHERING. (“Times-Age” Special.) The soldiers’ dance held on Saturday night in the Anzac Hall was well patronised. Miss Card and Mrs G. S. Sharp were the hostesses. Mr C. Buck was M.C. and Udy’s Orchestra provided the music. Extras were played by Mrs A. Donald, Misses Mary Herrick and Grace Fraser and Mr Brice. The supper was supervised by the Featherston ladies’ second committee. St. John’s Church. There was a large congreggation at the evening service at St. John’s Church, including members of the Masonic Lodge. The preacher was the Rev. W. F. Stent, Vicar of Carterton. Confirmation is to be held in St. John’s Church at 7.30 o'clock on Monday- night, October 14. In the absence of Bishop Holland the service will be taken by the Bishop of Waikato, the Right Rev. Bishop Cherrington. Premises Broken Into. Recently the premises of Mr James Harcourt McCarthy, agricultural contractor of Featherston, were broken into and about £5 worth of goods and a sum of money stolen. It is stated that an arrest has been made in connection with the robbery.
