ST. JOHN AMBULANCE

NURSING DIVISION V.A.D. CLASSES. EMERGENCY HOSPITAL UNIT BEING FORMED. A meeting was held last night in connection with the V.A.D. classes conducted by St. John Ambulance Nursing Division. The object of the course is to provide a fully trained unit in case of emergency, invasion, epidemic, etc. All V A.D’s. are required to hold first aid, home nursing, and hygiene certificates and to have received 60 hours training in the Masterton Hospital, rhe classes are conducted under the personal supervision of Miss L. Whitehouse, who has devoted considerable time to the training of the girls. There are now 24 fully-trained V.A.D’s. in Masterton and others are at present completing their training. At the request of the Wairarapa Hospital Board an emergency hospital unit is now being formed. 'A dance is being organised to raise funds to equip the unit and this will be held in the Masonic Hall, Masterton, on Thursday, October 17. As the purpose of the dance is a most commendable one, it is deserving.of the warm support of the public. Donations towards the supper will be gratefully received and donors are requested to communicate with the secretary, Miss A. G. Tregurtha (telenhone No. 1614), Miss L. Wells (telephone No. 1789), or Miss M. Pither (telephone No. 2001) as soon as possible. All V.A.D’s are requested to attend in uniform.
