FEATHERSTON

MAYOR’S RELIEF FUND A HANDSOME DONATION. (“Times-Age” Special.) Mrs E. I. Elgar has made a donation of £5O to the Lord Mayor of London’s Relief. Fund. The fund has now reached £155. Donations may be sent to the Mayor or to the hon. secretary of the Patriotic Committee at the Racing Club Office, Featherston. CROQUET CLUB PRESENTATION TO MRS SAUNDERS A most enjoyable time was spent at the residence of Mrs Saunders on Tuesday night when members of the Featherston Croquet Club and friends who had been attending the weekly card parties, made a surprise visit to her home in order to show in a tangible form their appreciation of her hospitality. Mr Rae, in presenting Mrs Saunders with some handsome cups and saucers on behalf of those present, referred to the trouble Mrs Saunders had gone to in preparing and cleaning up in connection with the parties and making them so popular and enjoyable. He was sorry she was leaving the district and would be unable to attend next season. Mrs Saunders thanked Mr Rae for his remarks and those present for their gift. She said that she had the interest of the Croquet Club at heart, and had arranged the parties to augment the funds with the hope that they would be as enjoyable as the happy times she had had among her Croquet Club friends. She made special mention of the fact that Mrs O'Neil and Mr Perry had donated the aggregate prizes.

The time was spent in playing cards, the winners being'—Ladies: Mrs Rea and Mrs Miller; men, Sergeant Wakelin.
