“AWAITING DECAY”
ATTITUDE TOWARDS DENTAL DISEASE. INSTANCE IN AUSTRALIA. In a section of a report recently issued by the schools’ medical officer for South Shields (Australia), states an article in a issue of “The Dental Magazine,” attention is drawn to the fact that it was still hard to persuade some parents to consent to fillings being done. In one particulai l case mentioned a boy needed a few extractions of .temporary teeth and also a number of fillings in permanent teeth. Extractions were completed at the first visit but when the boy was sent for a second time to have the fillings done his mother wrote to say that she “did not believe in” fillings. She had decided, she said, to wait until the teeth had decayed a little more and then she would have them taken out. In view of the fact that a similar position is said to exist in Masterton a public meeting at which it is hoped that there will be a large attendance, will be held on October 14 when matters relating to the running of the Masterton Dental Clinic will be considered.
