ANOTHER SUCCESS
CONCLUDING PERFORMANCE OF “DEAR OCTOPUS.” COMEDY CONSIDERED BEST EFFORT TO DATE. The first night’s large attendance was fully maintained, together with the high standard of production, when the Little Theatre Society gave its final presentation of Dodie Smith’s play, “Dear Octopus,” in the Opera House, Masterton, last night. With the exception of Miss Patricia Gill, whose part was taken on Saturday night by Miss Jean Douglas, the cast was unchanged. The audience, whose attention was held throughout the three acts, felt that it was being shown an intimate cross-section of family life —its drama, jealousies, sentiment, hates Sind humour—and more than one keen critic of amateur dramatics gave the opinion that “Dear Octopus” was the Little Theatre Society’s best effort yet.
