A DINNER DISH
BAKED APPLE DUMPLINGS. Divide shortcrust and roll out, using Jib. for 6 medium apples. Cream 1 tablespoon butter with 2 tablespoons brown sugar, add a pinch ground cloves and a pinch ground cinnamon. Spread on pastry, then place peeled and cdred apple on each. Fill the centres with dates or raisins, fold pastry round apples, completely enclosing the apple. Brush over with egg-white, then place a small round of pastry on top. Prick with a fork and brush it over with egg-white also. Bake in a moderate oven for about 1 hour.
