SOLICITOR’S DEATH
VERDICT OF SUICIDE RETURNED. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) WELLINGTON. This Day. A verdict that ' Herbert Llewellyn Griffiths, aged 47, a solicitor, of Martinborough, died at Hataitai on September 4 as the result of a bullet wound from a .22 rifle, self-inflicted was returned by the coroner, Mr W. G. L. Meliish, when an inquest was held in Wellington yesterday. Sergeant C. R. Duke conducted the inquiry on behalf of the police, and evidence was given that Griffiths had suffered a nervous breakdown. He was staying with a friend in Hataitai and on the day of his death gave no indication that he intended taking his life. His body was subsequently found in the washhouse. There was a .22 rifle nearby.
