FEATHERSTON
WOMEN’S INSTITUTE MONTHLY MEETING OF MEMBERS. (“Times-Age” Special.) The monthly meeting of Kahutara Women’s Institute was held yesterday, Mrs McKenna presiding over a good attendance of members. A letter was read from two New Zealand soldiers who are overseas expressing their thanks for parcels sent from the Institute. The Institute had enclosed its name and address in the parcels, and the recipients stated that they were pleased to be able to acknowledge the gifts. The Institute will continue with its knitting activities and has decided to knit garments for the Mission to Seamen. An appeal was made for reading matter for the Trentham Camp and it was decided to forward a box of books to the camp. The competitions resulted as follows: —Queen cakes: Miss Dymes, 1; Mrs D. Wilson, 2. Best bloom: Mrs Rogers, 1; Mrs McKenna, 2. The hostesses were Mesdamep Pope, Duffy and J. Sinclair. Personal. Mr and Mrs Bright, Mr Mason and Mr. and Mrs Moore Senr., Wellington, are the guests of Mrs L. McKenna. Mail Closing’ Time Altered. Commencing from Monday, the final mail of the day will close at the Featherston Post Office at 4.45 p.m. instead of 4.50 p.m. as at present.
