REPORTED DEADLOCK
IN FRANCOJAPANESE NEGOTIATIONS OVER INDO-CHINA. INTEREST IN U.S.A.-MOSCOW DISCUSSION. (By Telegraph—Press Association—Copyright) HANOI, September 9. The French and Japanese negotiations are reported to have reached a deadlock, following the departure of the two chiefs of the Japanese mission. French quarters are favourably impressed by the reports of alleged negotiations between Washington and Moscow, which are regarded as of the highest importance to Indo-China’s future. WOMEN & CHILDREN EVACUATION FROM BORDER TOWNS. (Received This Day, 9 a.m.) KWEILIN, September 10. It is authoritatively stated that the Indo-China Government has ordered the immediate evacuation of all European women and children from border towns, such as Kaobang and Langson. JAPANESE INVASION THOUSAND TROOPS CROSS . FRONTIER. WITHDRAWAL AFTER PROTEST. (Received This Day, 11.30 a.m.) HONG KONG, September 10. A thousand Japanese troops crossed over the Indo-China frontier at Dongdang, but withdrew after a French protest. The French are still firmly opposing Japanese attempts to gain a free hand in Indo-China. The Japanese apologised swiftly when the French threatened to abandon negotiations.
