SOUTHLAND GIFT. SUM OF £10.500 TO PURCHASE SECOND PLANE. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) INVERCARGILL, September 10. Today a cheque for £10,500 was sent to the Prime Minister by the treasurer of the Southland Provincial Patriotic Council on behalf of the Southland Fighter Plane Fund Committee. This is to purchase a second plane for the R.A.F., money for the first plane having already been sent and acknow.s lodged by the Air Ministry. It is the wish of the donors that if possible the plane be named Southland 11, and flown by a New Zealand airman.
