CARTERTON FOOTBALL CLUB A BRILLIANT SOCIAL SUCCESS. PRESENTATION OF TROPHIES. (“Times-Age” Special.) Visitors from all parts of the ” Wairarapa Valley were among those " who attended the Carterton Football S Club’s championship dance held in the e King’s Theatre. Carterton. last night, the function being one of the most outstanding social events of the season. The floor was in splendid order and l ' added to the enjoyment of those pre1 sent. 2 The music was supplied by Mr Tom - Udy's Orchestra, extras being played by Miss Rewa Hopkins and Messrs S. Bryce and Daysh. Messrs C. Jensen ’ and Keith Reid carried out the duties of M.’sC. in an efficient manner. An excellent supper was served by the ladies’ committee of the club, com- ’ prising Mesdames A. Thompson (attired 1 in black georgette), Pinfold (floral), C. ; Cook (black net), A. Desmond (gipsy stripe), A. Patterson (pink lace), King and Miss E. Harp. : The president of the Carterton Club. Mr A. Reid, paid a tribute to the work ■ of the ladies' committee for their assis--1 lance. 1 “I wish to congratulate the club on I its wonderful record which no other club in the Dominion has equalled," stated Mr J. F. Thompson, president of the Wairarapa Rugby Union in presenting the trophies won during the season. “The club was formed in days of most club members’ grandfathers, 61 years ago. The first match was played in a .paddock next to where the Royal Gak Hotel now stands. Since 1900 the club has won the championship 23 times. The juniors had also won the championship this year. The Reid Family's cup, in memory of thelate Mr Chas Reid, which was competed for between Carterton and Greytown, had been won by Carterton. What makes the club so successful? Firstly, they train from the beginning of the season; secondly, they play as a team, and thirdly, they had the people of Carterton behind them. The club had also always encouraged junior players.” Mr Thompson emphasised the prominent | part Carterton ex-players were taking | in Rugby administration. "We all wish Mr J.
