GOLD MINING

COMPANY RETURNS. The Mossy Creek dredge reports a return of 92 ounces from 7577 cubic yards worked in 68 hours. Big River Gold Mines, Ltd., reports for August that 20 tons of stone was mined from No. 5 winze. The stope was brought to the surface. Some lenses of stone were met with in the prospecting levels, namely No. 1,4, and 6. A total footage of 42 feet was driven. No. 7 level: The contractors advanced a distance of 47 feet making a total of 87 feet driven. This is slightly more than half way to cut the stone under No. 6 level winze. Th Nemona Gold Dredging Company, Ltd., reports that the new steel pontoons which have just been completed were launched successfully into the dredge pond last Saturday. The work of placing all the necessary plant and machinery on board the new pontoons is being pushed ahead with all speed so that dredging operations may commence at the earliest possible date.
