COURSING

WAIRARAPA CLUB ACTIVITIES. DONATION TO PATRIOTIC FUNDS. An executive meeting of the Wairarapa Coursing Club was held this week to receive a report on the result of the patriotic meeting held at Akura last Saturday. The statement showed the gate takings to be £4 15s. This sum was donated to the Provincial Patriotic Fund, along with the cheque for £5 5s presented by Mrs M. S. Buick, making a total of £lO. Members considered this to be quite satisfactory in view of the attendance at the meeting. Reference was made to the splendid action of Mrs Buick whose donation had swelled considerably the total forwarded to the fund. Preparations are to be made immediately to commence the summer sport of dog racing. Several suggestions were brought forward to put the sport on a better footing. A sub-committee was set up to go into the matter and report back next week.
