GIFT PARCELS

CHRISTMAS CHEER APPEAL FOR SOLDIERS. OVER £2OO RAISED YESTERDAY. The appeal made in Masterton yesterday for funds to provide Christmas cheer gift parcels for soldiers overseas met with a most gratifying response, a sum. of £2OB 14s being collected, with some donations still to come in. Throughout yesterday members of the Masterton Ladies’ Patriotic Committee and helpers conducted a street sale and a house to house canvass. The committee wishes to thank all donors of cash and kind and collectors for their ready assistance with the appeal. It is the aim of the appeal to provide every soldier overseas with a Christmas gift parcel and the response made in Masterton ensures the local quota being provided for.
