TRUST LANDS TRUST MONTHLY MEETING LAST NIGHT. (“Times-Age’' Special.) The monthly meeting of the Trustees ci the- Greytown Trust Lands was held last night, there being present Messrs F. Dennes (chairman), H. G. Carter. W. H. Day, H. J. Nightingale. A. H. York, and the secretary, Mr B. Kiernan. The Greytown Borough Council forwarded a copy of repairs demanded to be carried out to buildings on Trust Land and owned by the Estate of D. P. Loasby.
Accounts passed for payment amounted to £37 11s 2d.
The secretary intimated that he would be going into camp with the Hawke’s Bay Regiment on October 1 and would be away for three months. Mr J. Kiernan was appointed acting secretary for this period. Mr H. J. Nightingale stated that he had been deputed by the Borough Council to ask the Trustees to allow stock to be grazed in the Memorial Park. Mr Nightingale said that there was no revenue received from the Park and the Council wanted to keep the grass down. The chairman pointed out that grant made by the Trust of £2O per annum was given in the first place with the idea of keeping the Park clean, as complaints had been received that the sheep had made the grounds dirty. In answer to a further question MiNightingale said that he understood that it was intended to do away with the ornamental plots at the entrance to the Park. Members of the Trust expressed their regret in this connection. After a further discussion it was decided to ask the Park Committee to meet the Trustees and discuss the matter. ST. LUKE’S CHURCH MEETING OF GUILD. The monthly meeting of St Luke’s Ladies' Guild was held in the Parish Hall yesterday afternoon, Canon Sykes presiding. There was a very good attendance of members and an enjoyable time was spent. Apologies for absence were received from Mesdames Kidd and Carter. Mrs Duff offered a Christmas cake for competition. At the conclusion of the business the hostesses, Mesdames Benseman and Nichols served afternoon tea. The meeting was closed with prayer and the pronouncing of the Benediction. Profit From Dance. The members of the Dance Committee from the Kia Tora Girls and Fire Brigade met at the Fire Station last evening. The balance sheet for the dance showed a profit of £ 10 9s 6d and the secretary was instructed to hand the amount to the treasurer of the Mayor’s Patriotic Fund. Superintendent J. Wood expressed his appreciation to the ladies’ committee for their splendid co-operation and the excellent supper arrangements. On behalf of the Kia Tora Girls Miss B. Shedden said they would be very pleased to co-operate with the Fire Brigade in another effort at some future date. Golf.
