DOMINION SWIMMING

ABANDONMENT OF MEN’S CHAMPIONSHIPS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. _ Abandonment of the Dominion men’s swimming championships for the duration of the war has been decided upon by the Council of the New Zealand Amateur Swimming Association. The junior, intermediate and women's championships, however, will be held at a combined meeting, the location of which has been referred to a swimming conference to be held in Wellington on Labour Day. It is likely that the Swimming Association and the Surf Association will confer beforehand as to the possibility of having a combined swimming meeting and surf championships at one place at the same time.

The abandonment of the men’s championships is in line with the action taken durng the last war, when junior and women’s swimming was continued and made great progress.
