WOMEN'S INSTITUTE EUCHRE AND DANCE. (“Times-Age” Special.) The Women’s Institute held a euchre party and dance in the Memorial Hall, the proceeds being for patriotic purposes. There was a large attendance. Mesdames McKenzie and Carter ano Messrs Riwai and Kitney were the winners of the euchre prizes. The produce stall was largely patronised and every article sold. The music for the dance was supplied by a local band. Mr S. Mclptosh was M.C. The Institute held a committee meeting at Miss Hanlon's residence, Whangamoana, when several matters were discussed and dealt with.

Mrs R. Murphy has found it necessary to enter the hospital for treatment. Miss McFadden, sole teacher at the Tuhitarata School, has left to take up another teaching appointment. Mr J. Bragg, who has been an inmate of the Masterton Hospital, has sufficiently recovered to be able to return home. The' many friends of Mr George Elliot will be pleased to know that he is making good progress towards recovery after his serious illness. He is in the Wellington Hospital. Mr W. Henson, who is in the same institution, is also doing well. Lambing Season. Lambing operations are in full swing in the Lower Valley and indications point to a successful season provided the district escapes the severe southerlies which are often experienced at this period of the year. The mild rain recently has been good for lambing. Twins are fairly numerous on the local farms. Drums of Oil on Beach. Drums of oil which were washed ashore some time ago in the vicinity of Mr McDougall's Kawa Kawa Station, Palliser Bay, are still on the beach. The authorities in Wellington have been notified, but so far the drums have not been removed.
