DEATH IN CRASH
INQUEST ON WANGANUI AIRMAN. OPENED IN AUCKLAND. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) AUCKLAND. This Day. Evidence of identification was heard when the City Coroner (Mr F. K. Hunt) opened an inquest on PilotOfficer Goldstone. the victim of Saturday’s air tragedy. Squadron-Leader Kirkup said PilotOfficer Goldstone was 21 years of age and had been for three weeks at the Hobsonville Air Base. When he took of! on Saturday, he was in good health and spirits and witness had no hesitation in allowing him to go up.
An inquiry into the accident is being held at Hobsonville by WingCommander Burrell. Squadron-Leader Bolt and Flight-Lieutenant Fisher. A copy of the evidence will be supplied to the police and the inquest will be resumed.
Pilot-Officer Goldstone’s funeral will take place at Wanganui on Friday.
The condition of Pilot-Officer Le Pine, who was rescued from the plane, is reported by the hospital to be fair.
