SOUTH ISLAND COMPANY’S REPORT REDUCTION IN PAYOUT. ON ACCOUNT OF RISING COSTS. (By Telegraph—Press Association.) CHRISTCHURCH, This Day. The Tai Tapu Dairy Company shows a surplus of £26,848 for the year ended July 31, against £32,585 in the previous year. The directors recommend a final payment of 2Jd per lb. of butterfat, compared with 2Jd last year, bringing the season’s total payment to 16.171 d, against 16.396 d a year ago. The dividend at 6 per cent is unchanged. The production of 1,467 tons ,of butter is a reduction of 98 tons compared with the previous season. The directors explain that the reduction in total payout is due to the box differential imposed on the company mid to rising costs while the price paid for produce has remained unaltered.
